Hello Friends,
This is a friendly reminder that the Sensory Garden Work Days are approaching!!!
We are expanding the Sensory Garden at Scripps Park with generous donations from the North End Sensory Garden, local businesses (Brook's Lumber, Starbucks, Motor City Casino, AAA Lawn Service) and community organizations (Woodbridge Neighborhood Development Corporation, Friends of Scripps Park, Douglass Library, My Brother's Keeper, Brother Nature, Greening of Detroit, MSU extension, AmeriCorps Urban Safety Project). The garden is intended to be inclusive to the everyone in the community and will be wheelchair accessible, complete with braille signage.
The work days will be...
Friday May 4th -TRANSPORT DAY - from 10am to 2pm (or until finished) at the North End Sensory Garden (2937 E. Grand Blvd)
We will be removing plants, disassembling the bed, loading soil ect. into trucks and bringing it to Scripps Park.
Once the lumber and material is at Scripps (Trumbull and Grand River) we will need help unloading trucks and staining the wood.
Saturday May 5th - INSTALLATION DAY - from 10am-4pm at Scripps Park (Trumbull and Grand River)
We will be reassembling the beds, planting, and cleaning up the park.
Tools and snacks will be provided.
